I’ve been exploring casually the science of human’s inner space in the last 2 years using power of visualization. It was only last year that I started teaching it in my yoga class. On this Monday, I had an astounding experience with a Fasting group because I was able to take the students beyond their self-imposed limitations of their mind. It not only fundamentally shifted their understanding experientially about power of the mind but also increased their self confidence in their own body and practice. For me, it gave me so much fulfilment in moving them into the space of possibilities which is the real purpose of Yoga.
Basically, what I did was I took them through a simple experiment of showing them the power of visualization in integrating the intention and body-mind into creating a new reality in their practice. Next, I performed the different yoga sequences like Surya Namaskar and a few challenging postures while they observed my movements and body language. Then they visualized themselves performing the exact movements in their inner space and finally they just moved into manifesting the same thing in reality.

Are you aware that yoga is a science?
Like any science there are 2 parts: 1) the theories or the pure science and 2) the application in practical life or the applied science. Many of us know mostly the theoretical aspect of yoga through books but to experience the applied science of yoga, one needs to live the science. Person who knows only pure science, the theories who never learn applied science will always be a beggar in consciousness. The utility value of applied science is that it brings value to the pure science, it inspires people towards pure science.
Samyama is the applied science of Yoga. Samyama is the technology through which the extraordinary experiences and powers; which are in our super consciousness, are expressed through our body to the world. Our super consciousness is all knowing, all pervading, but preparing our body and mind to radiate some of those great powers and expressing those powers, that technology is Samyama.
Extraordinary powers (siddhis) like materializing, teleporting, levitation, clairvoyance, walk on water and control of 5 elements etc are a part of Hindu Vedic tradition. All the juicy part of this tradition is the applied science. You would have seen many enlightened masters casually playing with such powers so as to inspire others towards the pure science. Samyama is the essence of the Hindu tradition, the core of Vedic tradition.

Are you aware there is such a thing called muscle memory?
The truth is our body stores memories in different parts of the organs and muscles. Muscle memory is responsible for the spontaneous way in which we react to every situation before even we are actually aware of it. They come from the past memories of this body, meaning the memories of this birth. After many unconscious repeated actions, it is stored in our muscles and we respond to life out of these unconscious past memories. By and by, these incompletions become patterns in us over time and they start creating more and more trouble and suffering in our life.
I’ve started a new yoga Module called ‘Yoga for Women’ last week and one of the things that we are exploring is the re-programming of engraved memories of a female physiology. The common engraved memories that all human beings tend to suffer is that of laziness pattern. Breaking the muscle memory of laziness is the first step in spiritual awakening. If laziness pattern gets settled into the body’s muscle memory, for a female, it will lead to indulgence in past suffering and engrams. However, for a male body, it leads to indulgence of sense pleasures and new engrams.
